Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Program

Columbia College offers a variety of geographic information system (GIS) courses to help educate students to better understand geospatial technology used to decipher the natural world. Students who take GIS courses will be better prepared to make informed, responsible decisions related to earth systems, including resource extraction and management, natural hazards, climate change, pollution and health related issues, forestry management, watershed analyses, etc. Additionally, the program seeks to employ students in geospatial related jobs (a combination of outdoor and indoor work/lifestyle may be available) that are projected to continue to grow into the future.
